The power of George Orwell’s 1984 and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World was that the human spirit, the individual cannot be crushed or submerged and ignored. Whats happening in China is a worrying trend but in forward thinking organisations and business the individual is seen as precisely that, an individual and must be treated as such.
Businesses like to think that they have a unique identity and they all do vary to a greater or lesser extent . Those with very distinct identities and ways of working can survive but they are few and far between. The individual is quite happy to be part of a team but has a voice, cannot be taken for granted and cannot be ignored. They are the lifeblood of the businesses. Take that lifeblood for granted or abuse it is not the recipe for a successful business.
